Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and meadows with panoramic views of the Apennines and the Alpi Apuane stands the typical Tuscan detached house Casa Colombana, named after the grapes grown here. The house has a terraced former vineyard of approx. 7000 square metres. The mini-apartment with separate entrance is located in the annex, the house is inhabited by a German expatriate. The flat is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, and there are works of art to admire both inside and out. The area, called Lunigiana, is excellent for hiking, mountain biking, motorbike riding or simply for those seeking relaxation, who love nature and tranquillity and of course as a starting point for excursions to some world-famous cultural monuments and to the sea. These sights are easy to reach by car (10 min. to the motorway). To the sea 30 min., also to Carrara (marble quarries), La Spezia (important harbour town), Cinque Terre. To Lucca, Pisa, Genoa, 1 hour's drive, Florence 2 hours. Countless castles and small towns almost untouched by tourism as well as local specialities invite you to discover and enjoy. The Lunigiana is one of the few areas in Tuscany that has hardly been developed for tourism. Due to its proximity to Liguria, culinary and cultural specialities merge into an interesting mix. Good train connections at Aulla railway station (approx. 3 km) also allow excursions without a car. The hostess is happy to help with tips and information.The flat is 23 square metres in size, the entrance door leads into a small hallway, from which the bathroom is to the left and the room straight ahead. In the hallway you will find a parasol and cushions, German-language literature, information brochures and maps of the area, as well as a small wardrobe. The bathroom is equipped with a washbasin, shower and WC, a vanity unit for cleaning utensils and a mirror cabinet. A small shelf provides space for personal items and a hairdryer. A window ensures good ventilation and the fly screen protects against insects of all kinds.on the left-hand side of the combined living room/bedroom is a kitchenette with integrated fridge, two electric hobs and sink. The wall cupboard above is equipped with crockery and kitchen utensils for the preparation of complete meals, as well as a German coffee machine, an espresso machine and an electric kettle. We recommend bringing German coffee if required, coffee filters are available. To the right you will find a washing machine and a double bed (1.60 x 2.00 metres) with reading lamps. From the entrance door you can see directly onto the French balcony with a view of the Apennines and the Alpi Apuane, here too a mobile fly screen ensures a peaceful night's sleep. The spacious wardrobe contains woollen blankets, towels and bed linen. A TV set is mounted above the spacious dining table with two chairs, with which you can also receive German programmes. Cutlery, can opener etc. can be found in the table drawer. On all the walls you can admire works of art by various contemporary artists.The car park is conveniently located in front of the entrance to the flat, 4 steps lead up to the front door and the side balcony, which is equipped with a parasol, a small round table and 2 chairs. From there you have a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and villages. The terrace in front of and to the side of the house and on the east side with its seating invites you to read or simply let your gaze wander. The landlady is also happy to provide you with sun loungers. Bicycles can be stored in the cellar, access is at the side of the house.The landlady is a retired speech therapist and offers individual introductions to the Italian language on request.For bookings of 5 nights or more, the landlady invites you to a snack with Tuscan and Ligurian specialities by arrangement.The nearest shopping facilities are approx. 3 km away (supermarket, bakery, butcher, post office, bank), best reached by car. Bars, restaurants, ice cream parlours and shops of all kinds can be found in the small town of Aulla, approx. 4 km away, as well as in the surrounding area; the landlords will be happy to give you tips. About 1 km from the house you can take a refreshing dip in a small river in high summer, a favourite swimming spot for the locals too. The nearest outdoor pool is approx. 8 km away, and the landlords will be happy to tell you about other bathing spots and waterfalls in the surrounding area. Directly from your accommodation you can explore the surrounding area on foot or on your own bike, the less frequented road and signposted hiking trails lead you through the forest and past farmland to beautiful viewpoints and small villages.
